The Math Geek’s Got The Moves!

I want his number!

wayne Wayne, I think he had me at hello or at pIE (hi).

Love and math, is indeed the equation of champions.

Yes, I love Dwayne Wayne and you do the numbers together you probably should too.

In case you were wondering, Dwayne Cleophas Wayne (Kadeem Hardison) was one of two main characters, on “A Different World.”

He was the geek that Denise Huxtable (Lisa Bonet) didn’t want to go out with in the first season( I guess he was no Romeo Blue). Awkwardly dressed and socially inept, I guess you could say Dwayne Wayne served as the Steve Urkel/Duckie character.

You know the media equation of that:

Geeky-loser +guy nobody wants to go out with, + wears funny glasses, + probably has one friend who’s equally if not more prone to annoy others, etc…

All that aside, Dwayne Wayne goes on to woo many a Hillman coed, even causing a number of many cat fight (rrraaawwrr).

Yes, Dwayne the student, the tutor, the teacher, the object of desire, it’s a wonder I never bothered to find out what school Hillman was based on…

Plus, let’s not forget the dreamiest of factors…Majoring in Calculus, he used not four, but SIX, which according to all manner of calculations is 30% more hot (that your run of the mill Pointdexter),

Six eyes, I mean how much more geek could you ask for?!

Transition lenses killed that six-eyed geek chic look–Talk about a sight for sore eyes, meow.

*Sigh* However, the variables or polynomials (I’m not a math major) seem to be in some kind of order, an order that further equates my heart at certain patter…I like probably many a Humanities major can’t help shake the attraction or rather not find the liteary and metaphorical problem that is me+Dwayne.

Solutions verses prose/poetry.

Were this some kind of Shakespearn scholastradgedy, we’d be att odds.

I from the house of Littagues and Dwayne from the house of Calculet. It is in the stars…lover that is a magnet to steel (Walter Egan song)!

We’d be at odds, only hoping to match or equate occasionally…Poetically, Dwayne dreads Shakespeare (I am the yin to his yang! i dig the bard.

Dwayne the sensitive hero:

I write the occasional blog post, and Dwayne writes mathematical poetry. He wrote a poem about his love for math!

How many writers have written copiously about their passion for literature and their drive to mince words on a blank sheet of paper?!

Before you answer that, let me introduce you to another quotient I wouldn’t mind squaring off with sometime.

That geek, is Kumar (Kal Penn)of the Harold and Kumar films.

Before you say, “he wanted a burger above all things,” I should remind you that he also wrote a poem about math.

Yes, a poem that is so perfectly nerdly, so profoundly romantic and sad I just couldn’t help but be enamored of Kal’s character.

Read it for yourselves and just try NOT to be moved:

“The Square Root of Three”

I’m sure that I will always be
A lonely number like root three

The three is all that’s good and right,
Why must my three keep out of sight
Beneath the vicious square root sign,
I wish instead I were a nine

For nine could thwart this evil trick,
with just some quick arithmetic

I know I’ll never see the sun, as 1.7321
Such is my reality, a sad irrationality

When hark! What is this I see,
Another square root of a three

As quietly co-waltzing by,
Together now we multiply
To form a number we prefer,
Rejoicing as an integer

We break free from our mortal bonds
With the wave of magic wands

Our square root signs become unglued
Your love for me has been renewed

Beautiful right?

I couldn’t find the poem Dwayne wrote, otherwise I’d have them compete(for mine and probably your affections) side by side.

Beauty aside, Dwayne Wayne did it first, and it’s time to recognize!

Sure, all math geeks are 10s in my book anyway! I mean what struggling to multiply (ok, ok, bad innuendo) English geek doesn’t get a thrill when they get a glimpse of that math geek at work! I’m sure nerdly English loving, math-terrorized guys out there dig the math geek too, Lindsay Lohan in Mean Girls comes to mind.

She Does Some Mean Math

She even stole my heart after winning that competition for the Mathletes. I mean, of course I’m hot over anyone with mad writing skills just as much as the next nerd but, uh, if that b*tch can factor, count me in!
